Your privacy is very important to the Silver Spring Christian Reformed Church (“SSCRC”). We want to make your relationship with our organization (both online and offline) as secure and positive as possible. This policy outlines the collection, use and protection of information relevant to our mission as it relates to visitors to SSCRC’s web site, online and offline donors, and anyone seeking services. SSCRC will not sell or trade donor information.
Online: Website & Email Privacy
This website (www.sscrc.org) is owned and operated by the Silver Spring Christian Reformed Church. Generally, you can visit SSCRC’s website without revealing any information about yourself. Our web servers collect information through aggregate tracking, such as domain names but not individual email addresses, to compile data such as the number of visits our site receives, the average time spent on the site, the pages viewed, referring website, etc. We collect this anonymous data utilizing Google Analytics to measure site usage and to help us improve site performance.
There are some instances in which you may choose to provide personal information to SSCRC. This may include making a donation, submitting a message to staff, signing up for a newsletter and/or submitting a form to volunteer. In these instances, SSCRC uses encryption software to keep your personal information, including credit card numbers, secure. The information provided over our secure data lines is used to process your request.
Any information you choose to provide in an email to us may not be secure and is used only to respond to your request.
SSCRC’s website may include links to other sites, such as social services agencies, government resources and other ministries. While we strive to link only to sites that share our high standards and respect for privacy, we are not responsible for the content or the privacy policies of other sites.

Offline: Data Collection & Retention
SSCRC is committed to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality regarding the constituent information (donor, volunteer, and visitor) that we collect, use, and maintain. This privacy standard protects the privacy of constituent information in accordance with federal and state privacy laws, SSCRC’s contractual obligations, and our constituents’ reasonable expectations of privacy.
Constituent information is used and disclosed only for SSCRC’s mission-related activities and operations. In addition, use and disclosure of constituent information are limited to a “minimum necessary” standard, except in certain situations specified by law. Other uses and disclosures of constituent information, including disclosures to third parties, shall not generally occur unless the constituent provides their consent. Constituents may exercise the rights granted to them under this privacy policy free from any intimidating or retaliatory acts.
Participant Data
SSCRC collects or verifies basic personal information about participants (clients) in our SSCRC Food Pantry. Below are general categories of information that we collect, for eligibility and reporting purposes.
Participant contact information: SSCRC Food Pantry may ask for information such as your full name, zip codes, phone numbers, and the number of adults and children in a participant’s family. We collect this information so that we may evaluate the number of individuals receiving our services and general area of residence and to contact participants with service related information. We consider this information private and limit how it is used and disclosed.
Demographic information: SSCRC Food Pantry may ask for limited demographic information such as your race, ethnicity, and primary language. This information is used to help us to better understand the individuals we serve or to better communicate with you. We consider this information private and limit how it is used and disclosed.
Referring agency information: SSCRC Food Pantry collects basic information related to any agency that is referring participants for service. This may include agency name, contact person, and phone number.
Direct Data Collection
Personal data is only stored when voluntarily given by you for a determined purpose e.g. in context of a registration, a survey, a contest, or in performance of a contract. Your individual, identifiable, personal data will not be disclosed to third parties without your consent.
Phone Numbers
Any phone numbers collected through our site, whether through webform or other means, will be used exclusively to communicate with you regarding our services and will never be shared or sold to third parties for promotional or marketing purposes.
Telephone Communications with You
You agree that SSCRC and its agents may call or text you at any phone number (landline or wireless) that you provide to us, using an automated dialing system and/or a prerecorded message, for marketing services and/or account-related purposes, such as appointment confirmations, service alerts, billing and collection issues or account recovery concerns.
