What to expect in our worship services

The worship services at SSCRC are a conversation between God and God’s people. God calls and we respond. Throughout the service we respond to God’s call in praise, confession, and gratitude. Christ and his sacrifice and grace permeate this dialogue at all times. While we don’t have a set liturgy, we do follow a similar pattern from week to week—Gathering, Word, Response, and Sending. The style of our worship music is a blend of many different traditions. We sing psalms, hymns, Gospel songs, Taizé, and contemporary music.

Children in Worship

Part way through our time of worship, children ages 3–7 are dismissed for Children in Worship. In this ministry, children experience and learn about God in a worship setting developed especially for them.

  • They are greeted in the name of the Lord and sing songs of praise.

  • They hear the Word of the Lord through a Bible Story told with simple props and respond by wondering and reflecting together as well as having a personal response time using a number of available materials.

  • They give thanks to God and share a "feast".

  • They hear God's blessing and sing a closing song.
